Early Life & Education
Born in Santo Domingo in 1953, Gómez studied drawing at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes, completing his formal training in 1982. Beyond his accomplishments as a painter, he has played an important role in Dominican arts education, teaching drawing and painting at institutions including the Centro de Arte Cándido Bidó and the Escuela de Arte y Museo Cándido Bidó. He was also a founder of the Escuela de Arte Luc and the Escuela de Arte Expresión del Caribe, helping to inspire and mentor new generations of Dominican artists.
International Recognition
Recognized early in his career as an exceptional watercolorist, Gómez became known throughout Latin America for his mastery of color, atmosphere, and expressive composition. Over the course of his career, he has presented more than twenty solo exhibitions and participated in numerous collective exhibitions in the Dominican Republic and abroad. His work is represented in important collections throughout the Dominican Republic, the United States, Puerto Rico, Europe, Latin America, and Japan.
